AmazonasFew days ago I landed in the jungle… if you have not found out so far, but I love this country… it has everything, and now I am at the most isolated place in the world… how comes you might ask, isn’t that the Easter Island… at least this is what GeraldN has written few weeks ago… yes and no… whereas the Easter Island is the furthest inhabited point away from any other inhabited point, Iquitos is the worlds largest city without street connection to another city… it sounds unbelievable, but Iquitos has half a million inhabitants, but the only way to get in or out of the city are by plane or by ship… and this is not the only record Iquitos holds… it is also home to 25,000 moto-taxis which create a continuous buzzy noise here… and it is an amazing city… full of people, right on the famous Amazonas it is just the opposite what one would think of a town in the jungle… but than, I spent the last 3 days about 50km down the river and there is jungle pure… no electricity, no light, no TV – nothing at all… a simple hut and that is all you get… what an experience where humans are just humans and life as well as they can with nature… for me that meant to go to bed early (well, it is quite dark at 6:30) and fight off mosquitoes which seemed just to have waited for fresh Austria blood…   what a renewing experience – and by the way – it is good to be back in a town…
